Tony’s latest poetry is now available!

Tony Buzan: Poetry is a limited edition box set containing the first collections of Tony’s poetry to be published since the highly-praised Spore One - Structure in Hyperspace, released in 1971.

This beautifully produced set is limited to only 500 copies, and comprises two volumes of Tony’s poetry. Requiem for Ted and Concordea, both contain a specially commissioned illustration by the famous fine artist, Lorraine Gill, and each volume is signed and numbered in ink by the author.

Each hardback volume is finely bound in linen, printed on thick, cream-wove paper, and features a cover-colour-coordinated ribbon bookmark and head and tail bands.

The volumes are housed in a bespoke slipcase, coloured in commemorative silver, and crested on the front in royal blue with the book titles, and with the author’s name and insignia.

REQUIEM FOR TED

Ted and Tony first met in 1968. In the following three decades, up to his death in 1998, they worked together on many projects relating to Poetry and Creativity.

The cartoon by Ted and Tony in Requiem For Ted is a wonderful example of the creatively playful times they spent together.

Since their friendship came to an end with Ted’s death, Tony has been writing this series of memorial poems to celebrate the life of his close friend and mentor.

...The last memories I have of Ted are of an all-night conversation ranging the universes of knowledge, in which the depth and breadth of Ted’s learning, and intelligence, seemed fathomless, and held everyone in thrall. His energy was childlike and limitless. His enthusiasm was electrifying and infectious. His humour and appreciation of humour uproarious.

At times it seemed he was inhabited by Shakespeare. At other times by a king. At others by a bull.

I remember, and will always remember, Ted, the following day, converting a classroom of business people, who had come to believe that they had never been, and never would be, poets. Their eyes were tear-filled, stunned at their own, and their colleagues’ exquisite sensitivities, and expressions of those sensitivities.

The language with which Ted communicated, was Poetry. Requiem For Ted uses that language, the language he so lovingly taught others, to deal with the abiding gried of the loss of a friend, e mentor, an Essence.

A loss deeper than organ tones.

In its own way, Requiem For Ted is part of the growing evidence that Ted is still alive. Not dead...

CONCORDEA

In the all-too-brief life of Concorde, Tony flew in the aircraft nearly forty times. He became known as the ‘Concorde Poet’, because on each occasion he wrote between five and twenty poems about her. His love affair with ‘The Bird”, and the prolific stream of poetry that came from these futuristic experiences, are contained in this collection.

Extract from the introduction to Concordea:

Indeed Concorde is one of those rare events in history which immediately transcends it’s design parameters. Concorde was and is seldom described as a “plane”; she is described as “a simile”, “a metaphor”, “an ultimate bird”, “the perfect machine”, “beauty incarnate”, “magical” and as “the ultimate manifestation of Intellectual Capital”.

So beautiful and awe-inspiring was she, that she captured the imagination of people of all ages and all nations. It is heart-warming to read, as Concordea was going to press, that she had also captured the award, in a nationwide BBC poll which drew more than 200,000 votes, of the greatest British design of the Twentieth Century.

I remember the many times I saw forefingers pointing skyward, aimed directly at Concorde, and followed by faces all similarly wide-eyed with awe.

Concorde touched, and still touches, something intrinsic in the human soul...

For me she was Magical and inspirational; as soon as I was in her presence and seated in her, it was if a ‘Creativity Switch’ had been turned on, and thoughts and poems gushed out like a geyser.

One past Poet Laureate, before the prolific Ted Hughes, said that a poem was fortunate to be able to write five poems a year; when Concorde waved her magic wand, she inspired me to write 388 poems on her, while on her, in 130 hours.

I began to want to fly in her for the poetry alone...

Concordea is a selection of those Love Poems designed to take you on that three-hour-fifteen minute trip...

This exciting limited edition is published by The Cellar Press, and will be available only through this site (it is expected that the short run will be snapped up quickly, so order now!).
